Birthday Retreat: Wine & Yoga

2-hour session: light of being

Led by Shima, Yoga & Meditation Teacher and Founder of Shiyoga, this event is an invitation to slow down, breathe, move, and celebrate our existence under the open sky. A sacred gathering in honour of the life force (prana) that flows through us and connects us all.

August birthday retreat: A day to celebrate the gift of life

Theme

Awaken the energy force within by connecting to prana, qi, and universal energy through mindful movement and sound. Honour the beautiful human beings gathered, fostering a deep sense of community and interconnectedness. 

Why join the retreat

The session begins with a grounding circle and gentle, heart-opening yoga with breathwork to awaken energy. Guided meditation and sound healing invite deep inner connection, followed by journaling and optional sharing. We close with a joyful, expressive dance and a gratitude ritual, then gather to enjoy herbal tea and fruit—honouring presence, community, and the sweetness of life.

What to bring

Comfortable Clothing: Dress in layers that allow freedom of movement for yoga, breathwork, and expressive dance.

Yoga Mat: For grounding and heart-opening yoga practices.

Journal & Pen: For your reflections during the journaling session.
Water Bottle: Stay hydrated throughout the session.
Open Heart: Come ready to connect, share, and embrace the sweetness of the experience.

Structure of the session

🕔 5:00 PM – Opening circle (15 min)

• Welcome everyone with a grounding moment (seated in a circle).
• Short sharing: reflect inwardly on “What do I celebrate about my life?”
• Light a candle or incense to symbolize the spark of life.

🌞 5:15 PM – Gentle yoga flow (40 min)

• A heart-opening, life-affirming sequence:
• Begin with Pranayama (breath of joy) to awaken energy.
• Flow into soft, expansive movements: cat-cow, sun salutations, side stretches.
• Focus on heart and throat chakra openings (camel pose, supported fish, gentle backbends).
• Close with grounding in child’s pose and forward folds.

🎶 5:45 PM – Meditation & sound healing (30min)

• Guided meditation: “Honouring the Light Within” – visualizing the inner flame and its connection to universal energy.
• Sound bath with singing bowls, chimes, and gentle drumming (invite a sound healer or use your own tools).
• Incorporate mantra humming (Om or Ahhh) to raise vibrational energy.

💌 6:25 PM – Journaling & sharing (10-15 min)

• Journaling prompt: “What does being alive mean to me today?” or “What energy do I want to carry forward?”
• Optional: Share a few words in the circle.

🌸 6:40 PM – Closing ceremony (10-15 min)

• Short gratitude meditation.
• Taking part in a symbolic gesture: flower petals in hands released into the air or singing a simple chant together (like “Lokah Samastah Sukhino Bhavantu”).
• Sip herbal tea or munch on a fruit or dark chocolate as a small gesture of sweetness and life’s abundance.

💃 7:00 PM – Groove to your moves (15 min)

Dance it out! A fun, 15-minute groove session to move, shake, and celebrate.
